Last weekend Mayweather came out with a surprise ‘announcement’ that he’ll be returning to boxing to take on Manny Pacquiao in a rematch. Mayweather and Pacquiao bumped into each other a club overseas on the weekend. “I’m coming back in December,” Mayweather said which was caught on video.
Pacquiao repeated “I have the belt!” to Mayweather pleading for the fight.
Pacquiao is talking about The WBA’s ‘regular’ title — a secondary title to Keith Thurman’s ‘super’ title.
Mayweather and Pacquiao squared off for the first time in May 2015, in what wound up being the richest boxing match of all time. The fight had been clamored for many years although once the fight did happen a lot of fans were disappointed with the final performance. Pacquiao mentioned after the fight that he went into the fight with a severely injured torn rotator cuff.
Will the rematch take place? If Mayweather were to rematch Pacquiao it would undeniably be another big money maker, so you can’t completely rule it out.
